12 Days of Firemen - Day #12

Welcome to the last day of the 12 Days of Firemen! I hope you've had as much fun as I've had. First, the winners from yesterday are:

That question was a tricky one, since sources give two opposite answers. But the most commonly accepted answer is that in the 1800s the fire brigades used to compete with each other and make their rigs the shiniest, spiffiest, raddest of them all. Red was a "royal" color, and the most expensive paint, so it became the norm.

Now, on to today's question!  Since today is DESPERATELY SEEKING FIREMAN'S book birthday, the question of the day is this:

For today's question, I decided to go back in time.

Who invented the first fire extinguisher?

This invention has probably save hundreds of thousands of lives. But until I looked into it, I never knew which ingenious person created it. It turns out to be a pretty fascinating story, so have fun!

As always, research is allowed. Prizes will be awarded for one randomly selected correct answer and one creative.

The winner will receive my dear friend Candis Terry's next book, THE SWEETEST MISTAKE, which is also out on Tuesday, and also features a firefighter! I love Candis' books, and when I realized firefighter Jackson Wilder was the hero of this one, I clicked pre-order so fast, my computer nearly caught fire.

Twelve Days of Firemen

To celebrate the holiday season and the release of DESPERATELY SEEKING FIREMAN on December 31, you're invited to a special event on my Facebook page and here on the blog. Get ready for 12 DAYS OF FIREMEN! 

Each day will include a new trivia game, a new prize, and some fireman fun! Prizes will include books, firefighter cookbooks, mugs, and other special holiday gifts. Many of the prizes support various fire departments and their holiday charity efforts. I call that a win-win. :-)  The event starts on December 19 and ends on December 31, with a day off on Christmas. 

Most of the party will take place on my Facebook page, but every trivia question will also be posted here on the blog. One note: accuracy in answering the question is important, but I'll also give a prize for creativity. :-) So: one winner will be chosen randomly from those who got the answer right, or approximately right. A second-place winner will be selected based on the creativity of their response.

I'll post the correct answer and the winners each day before the next question goes live.

Cover Reveal: DESPERATELY SEEKING FIREMAN

Since I don't want to leave anyone waiting too long for their next Bachelor Fireman fix, a new novella will be coming your way on December 31.
